Public Record of Tilt
OK so after losing $450 earlier today I do the dumbest thing I have ever done in my life and set at a $400 NL table. I know so better then trying to make money back quick, but I was stupid and hey at least I am man enough to publically admit it. I played for about 45 minutes and was up about $30 when the I got QQ in mid and raised it 3x. Flop came QKA. Other guy had KK and I ended up all in and lost $430 more.
Amazing how it can take me hundreds of hours to build my bankroll and only 1 hour to lose it. I am embarrased to even write this as I know this is just insanely the dumbest thing I could ever do.
Sigh
Current BR - $1421

Dude, Keep your head up I appreciate that fact your a honest Man* No doubt to be real with yourself, honestly were human beings and most majority of succesfull poker players have been there, tilted some $ away, life is aboiut living and learning and I'm sure you've learned through theses experience your NOT PLAYING BAD! Anyone would've been stuck w/ the hands you've been getting, its just "one of those days" that every poker player experiences through out there career, Poker is a Grind, Your playing well just remember how you built that BR of yours, and even if it helps read back to your previous blogs, and look at what you were doing when you were having those winning Sessions c'mon now Boost That CONFIDENCE! Keep Ya Head Up! Take care peace..
I like your site and I appreciate your honesty! I've just been reading through some of your old entries and it seems to me you've done well in building your bankroll.
I think your mistake here wasn't the way you played but by moving up to $400NL too quickly. I made the same mistake ($1000NL shorthanded, yikes) and it cost me a lot more, if that's any consolation.
The trip Qs were a very tricky hand, it's as simple as that. It's hard to lay down a big set and you don't want to appear weak, but sometimes you have to. It comes with experience and it helps if you know your opponent. Sometimes you'll win on that flop (opponent holds AK, for example) and sometimes you won't. Yesterday, for example, I laid down KK which was a massive overpair. My opponent's play just had AA written all over it, and I was right.
The best way to get experience in No Limit is I would say sit and go tournaments. You'll face some very good players and learn quite a few tricks of the trade without risking much cash. Prima Poker's $10 games are probably best.
Good luck - except when you're facing me! :)
You have learned a painful lesson that most of us have learned at one time or another, don't move up to higher stakes to recoup losses.
Don't sweat it, though. It sounds like you have a lot of bonus money possibilities sitting around to help you regroup your bankroll.
Make sure to not play over your bankroll. Use the 300BB (or more, depending on your comfort level).
With your bankroll, consider playing 1/2 and 2/4 limit and studying the heck out of the limit game. I've been fortunate to build a bankroll up to around $7K and I only play 2/4 limit now. I played 1/2 limit for a year and that was worth about $3K to my current bankroll, then I moved up to 2/4.
You would find the 1/2 and 2/4 games lucrative (tons of bad players) and there are tons of bonuses out there to play off while you are doing this. It is possible to always play while clearing a bonus. Always.
If you like to also play NL, consider playing Sit-N-Gos. I also play these every day. I play the $5.50 and $11 SNGs at Poker Stars. This is a good way to learn tournament NL at a cheap tuition rate. Once you get proficient, multi-tabling SNGs can be lucrative also.
For NL cash games, consider playing at the $0.50/$0.25 blinds level, which I think is a $25 buy-in max. Again, it's cheap tuition.
Hang in there!. Just be patient and grow your bankroll. It will get there.
thank you all so much for the comments. this morning just absolutely sucked. I didnt even want to get out of bed. Time to go back to basics
