Was a frustrating day bubbling so much so I made the ultimate poker mistake, but am determined to write it in this log, learn from it, and not do it again. Losing so many tournies on the bubble I started to play some 0.10/0.25 nl ring in an attempt to make back some money. Well once it became about money my play was screwed up and I played hands I shouldnt have. (Net Loss -$28.80)

Ringling Brothers Circus/Missed Tilt

I didnt get to really play any poker last night cause I took my wife and children to the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus, what a fantastic time! Everything you can want from a dude sticking his head into a lions mouth, high wire act, trapeze, 4 motorcycles in a circle cage, an american idol loser singing as a ring master, it was great.

My kids are at that perfect age (5 and 11) where their eyes just light up in amazement at the circus and thats an awesome feeling as a parent. I'm still not too sure about paying $12 for a plastic sword that glows in the dark, but hey cant win em all.

I taped Tilt since I missed it while at the Circus and plan on watching it tonight. I taped The Apprentice last night too, but already watched it.

I did play $0.05/$0.10 NL Ring for about 20 minutes before bed time. First hand I hit a fullhouse and went up $6, but went back down and finished the 20 minute session up $0.80 (Net Profit +$0.80)

Sunday January 23rd 2005

Don't watch NFL playoffs and try to play poker, it messes with your game!

I lost on this hand so ridiculously that this person should never be allowed to play poker again. I had QQ first hand of tourny and raised 4x bb and get 1 caller. My flop brings a set for my ladies so I bet the pot and the caller comes over the top all-in. Shows 28 of spades! 2 spades on the flop. First of all who calls 4xbb flop with 28s, let alone pushes with them first hand of a tournament. Anywho the spades came and I left out 30 seconds after the tourny started.

45 mins of turbo only to come up 2 shy of the money, argh!

There was one really cool hand in this tourny where I had pocket 5s against pocket kings. The flop brought my 5 for the set. The turn brought a K which killed me and setted the Kings. The river brought the last 5! Gave me 4 of a kind versus the Kings full house. Here is the hand history ... http://www.pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=30154

7:45 AM CST - Been at work 45 minutes and got in a quick 15 minute $0.10/0.25 NL session. Hit two good hands. One was quad 10s against trip Kings and another was a good call on a guy on tilt that went all in with 44 and my 9To with a pair of 9s tooko down the pot. 14 minutes to be exact, set down with $25, left with $37.20, (Net Profit +$12.20)

Time to work until tonight .....

Tuesday January 18th, 2005

3:30 PM CST - Tonight is the weekly Negreanu Tournament at 20:00 EST. This is a regular Tuesday night gathering that some of the Daniel Negreanu forum members play together. It is a $10 + $1 NL Hold'em MTT.

Outside of that I plan on playing several SNGs and possibly another MTT or two. I'll keep ya posted on the results as they come in.

I just got turned on to some poker stat software called pokercharts, www.pokercharts.com I only start inputting data starting with my games from last night, but so far it is really cool and can't wait to get several days worth into it.

7:15 PM CST - Well just finished a $3 MTT tourny on stars. 1617 people. I made it to 583rd 1 hr 17 mins in. I was up to 44th at my high point, but a guy busted my Ace high flush with a full house which boated up on the river and he had me covered. ($3 net loss)

8:30 PM CST - Just finished 53rd of 63 in the Negreanu open. Had QsQc and raised 4xbb preflop with 2 other callers. Flop was Td7h3h and pushed all my chips (little more then pot). 1 caller with AhJh on a draw. Turn brings Js which pairs the caller, but river turns 5h and the Ace high flush takes down my ladies. For complete action see ..... http://www.pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=29114 (Since I had already bought buyin into this before I started the blog I am counting this as a break even, although its officially a net loss of $11. $0 Net Loss so it will match my BR in pokerstars)

Looks like i'm off to try my luck at some SNGs ....

9:45 PM CST - First $5.00/$0.50 - 18 person SNG went crappy - Placed 12th out of 18 and got hardly any cards ...
During current Hold'em session you were dealt 55 hands and saw flop:
- 5 out of 8 times while in big blind (62%)
- 0 out of 7 times while in small blind (0%)
- 5 out of 40 times in other positions (20%)
- a total of 10 out of 55 (18%)
Pots won at showdown - 1 of 5 (20%)
Pots won without showdown - 4

Net loss -$5.50

0/3 tonight .. time to try another ....

10:00 PM CST - I decided to try to play a loose game and it backfired big time. Losing hand was 45 on the BB with 23K flop. I had a open ended straight draw and pushed. Kings prevail.

My Blog

I figured I would start a little blog of my online poker games. I play as 'dna4ever' on pokerstars. I usually play $5, $6 turbo, or $10 SnGs. I also play $3, $5, and $10 MTT and some $0.25 and $0.50 nl.

My main reason for doing this blog is not for other people to read, but to hold myself accountable for my play and bankroll. Truth is I will probably get bored with this blog stuff after like a week and quit posting, but lets see what happens

You can often find me posting or chatting on Daniel Negreanu's website, www.fullcontactpoker.com
