Back from Anniversary Trip

Well got back from our Anniversary trip yesterday and we had a great time. We stayed in a cabin in the Smoky Mountains and pretty much spent the weekend playing in the hot tub and shooting billiards.

We went on a couple of really nice drives up through Cades Cove and saw a bunch of cool historic stuff and some beautiful scenery. We drove across the mountain into Cherokee North Carolina and spent about a half hour in Harrahs Casino there, but it totally sucked because they only have video play (slots, poker, etc), no table games.

They actually had something that was a mix of live Blackjack and Video blackjack where there was a real live dealer and you set at a felt table and bet with chips. The only problem was there were no real cards! You had a little built in video monitor in front of each player and you would tell the dealer stand/hit/double, etc and she would hit these buttons. Talk about a crappy way to simulate a live blackjack game and still control the house win rate! Rigged!

Here are a couple of nice scenery pictures I took over the weekend (Click to enlarge).

I did play some $2/$4 Short Handed last night and won about $52 then played a $20+$2 and went out 67th when I pushed with an OESD and flush draw and missed both.

Protege - Crazy Hand

Played in one of the Protege Freerolls tonight, had about 130 people and I just couldnt get anything going. I lost all 3 races where I had the pair I was in, JJ vs QK (grrr whoever you were), 99 vs AK (grrr missidaho), TT vs AJ (grrrr owise). I managed to make it down to the final 3 tables when this absolutely ridiculous hand happened (Click to Enlarge).......

Friday Night Poker

I got a $100 party poker gift certificate from PSO for getting 10,000 referral points and when that money got deposited it gave me a pending $15 deposit bonus after I raked 150 hands so I went and played 150 hands of $1 short handed at Party Poker and ended up +$35 plus the $15 bonus plus the $100 gift certificate so started the night off $150.

I played some $1/$2 6 handed on FCP and just could not pick up any hands and when I did get hands there were trumped so I quit that table down after an hour or so down about $55.

I played a $10+$1 MTT on stars and made it about halfway through the field and couldnt lay down AJ and lost to AK on A flopped board.

I played 2 $10 SnGs on Stars and won 1st on the 1st one and busted 5th on the 2nd one when I had 58 board flopped x58 and this guy pushes on that flop and I call, he turns over QKo, wtf? Turn K, River K, swear to God! Missidaho was there to witness it, just ridiculous!

Protege Freeroll

Havent been playing any cash poker the last few days since my big losing session, just taking a little break.

I did play in the Protege Freeroll last night nad went out in an interesting way. Was down to 69 people (top 4 advance) and have about $3600 in chips with blinds at the $100/$200 level when I pick up 10-10 in the BB. It folds around to the SB who I felt was making a move when raised 3X ($600). I decided to stand with my Tens and pushed back $3000 and the guy instantly called and I was like crap, but then he turned over 9J offsuit and I was like wow what a call. The bad news is the guy hit his 3 outter when a Jack flopped and I never recovered and busted 69th.

Not much

Didnt play any poker last night, had to take son to Cub Scouts and spent the evening with my wife.

I'm starting to get excited for my Vegas trip in 33 days. Feb 16th - Feb 19th.

Also the official DNA 7 year wedding anniversary is this month and to celebrate we are going to our Log Cabin in the Smokey Mountains at the end of this month for 3 days which will be alot of fun. Nothing like being in a hot tub in the snowy mountains. We are both going to try skiing for the first time ever, that should make for some interesting stories.

I have cleared $250 of my FCP Bonus and I moved it into my poker account.

7th of 136 in 1st of the 2006 Negreanu Opens

Wednesday night was the first Negreanu Open of the 2006 season and we had 136 entrants this time.

In the first 30 minutes I was down to 400 chips when I was all in preflop with KK, but hit AA. I bounced back well and had a good triple up with TT verus some overs that never hit. I got really lucky when I rivered a straight with 77 versus KK.

I was chip leader for a good hour or so then started getting cold cards. I found AQ and raised 4x and got pushed back, was against AA and QQ. I tilted a little and the next hand I pushed with AQ again and got called by JJ and AQ and never hit so was out 7th for $68 ($57 profit). 1st paid $408 and I feel like I really blew it at the end and threw away some precious chips because of the previous hand.

www.negreanuopen.com

Tonight kicks off the 2006 season of the Negreanu Open.

I started a new website where the leaderboard information will be kept for this season.

Its at www.negreanuopen.com so feel free to bookmark that if you plan on playing as it has all the information one could ever want to know about these tournaments.

Last night I played a $10 SnG and busted out 5th with a lower flush and I played about 30 minutes of $3/$6 and made $34 so $23 Net night.

Errrr

I guess I havent updated my blog in awhile and I dont really have anything exciting to say. I have played alot of poker, mainly $2/$4 and $3/$6, some short handed, probably 20 SnGs. I have been on a bad run lately. I am down $260 since my last post. I have cleared a little over $250 of my FCP deposit bonus, but havent moved any of it to my poker account so not counting it in my bankroll yet.

2005 Negreanu Open Tournament of Champions

Last night was the 2005 Negreanu Open Tournament of Champions (TOC). It combined the top 18 points leaders from the last two quarters of 2005 into one final tournament to play for the title of "2005 Negreanu Open Champion" and Daniel Negreanu also put up a pair of Oakley Thumps as a main prize. 16 of the 18 people made it into the tournament and as the flops would have it I was able to win the tournament. Here is how everyone finished:

Finish Name Prize
1 dna4everfcp $80 + New Oakley Thumps + 2005 Neg O Champion
2 The_Spademan $48
3 statedogg0 $32
4 MDBLakers
5 dabluebery0
6 MaVeTh
7 SQUIRRELBONE
8 poguemahone.
9 scottrude0
10 WKTSWAY
11 bigyang0
12 likestowhine
13 dilligaf1216
14 DunkinDonut0
15 chindi
16 kzoo-kid

Shrivey and AK33 were the 17th and 18th players that never made it into the tournament.

I am preparing things for the 2006 Negreanu Open season and its going to be alot better and have alot cooler prizes! We have a new domain (www.negreanuopen.com) where I will be keeping the leaderboard website at this year, I hope to have that done after this weekend for this season. For now all the details of the 2006 Season can be found here ... http://fullcontactpoker.com/poker-forums/viewtopic.php?t=43625

2006 Begins - Tourney with Daniel Negreanu

So far in 2006 I have played several SnGs, I won 1st in two $10 SnGs and lost 3 other $10 SnGs and lost two $20 SnGs, 1 where I bubbled.

I played about an hour of $3/$6 LHE today and made $115 then lost about $45 of it back at a $50 NLHE Ring game.

I happened to catch a post where Daniel was started a 30 person private SnG that was $20 with unlimited rebuys for the first hour. Scary! I decided to play and had to rebuy once and I bought the addon so was in for $62 and only top 4 positions played.

I made it down to the final table and I ended up busting Daniel which was good for a bounty of a free fullcontactpoker.com hat.

I busted out of the tourney in 3rd place when I got all in with AQ of hearts versus TK of spades and 3 spades flopped, doh! $322 payday minus my $62 in buyins was good for $260 net.

So far so good for 2006!

I went ahead and took $1000 out of my bankroll for my Vegas trip coming up in February which will be for gambling, food, fun, etc. My goal for 2006 is to turn $1200 into $10,000 so I guess we will see how I do!
