Bubbled Twice!

I played a $10+$1 LHE SnG on Party Poker and bubbled 4th out of 9th when I had A8 on the button and raised it up, flop came A8Q and was up against AQ, #@$%@#$% RIGGED!!!!

That one didnt suck as bad as this one. Last night I played in one of those $20 Stars 180 person SnGs and this would make a good todays 'WHAT WOULD YOU DO?' question.

The way these tournies work is there are 180 people who pay $20, but nothing is paid until top 18. 10th - 18th pays $43.20, 9th $61.20, ... 2nd $720, 1st $1080. So the real money like most MTT style tournies is at the very top.

Heres the situation, there are 20 people left and you are 9th in chips sitting good to make the money with the bubble just 2 away.

Blinds are 600/1200 ante 75 and you have $12,042T

You get dealt 2 red Kings in the BB and it folds all the way around to the button who is a solid player who makes a button min raise of 2x (2400), the SB folds and its your play. The Button has you covered by about $3000 chips so if you get all your chips in the middle and lose your out of the tourney with $0 or you can play it safe coast into the money.

Would you A) Call, B) Raise back "X" amount, C) Push

Since it was a button move and this guy was first to enter and it was a min raise I decided to "C" and pushes my stack as I wasnt there to play for 10-18th. He called immediately and had AQ and and A hit the flop and Q hit the river and I was out.

Here is the way the hand played out .. http://www.pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=157720

I think I made the right move here and to be honest I think the button made a terrible call risking nearly all his chips on a drawing hand that close the the button, but it worked out for him and I noticed the guy that busted me went on to win 1st and the full $1080. That could have been me!!!!!!!! ARGH!

Baby Steps - Back to $2/$4

Its been a few days since I really played a cash game, but I decided I would start of with a 1 hour 4 table session of $2/$4 on Poker Stars and see what happened.

I got a few good hands and ran into a few bad players and ended the session up $68. I lost one big hand that cost me about $20 when I had AQ vs AK and flop was AAJ.

Took a shot and missed

Well here comes another embarrassing yet must be written for accountability sakes blog.

I took a shot and missed, simple as that. I decided to take $500 and 'invest' into some higher stakes and it came down to as simple as two 2 outters that just destroyed me.

Was playing $15/$30 (cant wait for mr anonymous to comment on this one) and picked up AA on the button and popped it up 1 caller, flop T8K rainbow, I bet, caller reraises, I 3 bet, he caps, hmmm, set?

Turn comes an 8 pairing the board so I slow down, check, he bets, I call.

River comes Kd and my stomach drops as I check, he bets, I call and he turns over 6K for the $330 pot, you got to be shitting me.

http://pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=154284

The other hand was just as bad. I have KK in late and its raises 1 in front of me so I 3 bet and 1 caller behind me. Flop 234. I bet, late behind me calls, original raiser raises, I call, late calls. Turn is a 7 so I check, late checks, OR Bets and I check Raise, late calls, and OR calls. River brings a T, no flush possibilities I felt this was a great card unless I was up against AA, I bet, OR raises, I call, Mother hacker turns over TT and hit the set on the river for a $567 pot!

http://pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=154302

Its amazing that on 2 hands I was 2 outtered for $900 total. I guess sometimes the deck likes to run cold and smack you in the face once in awhile, but dang does that ever suck.

I quit right then finding myself down another $380 and am determined to play within bankroll now.

Bad Beats

Its like when poker is pissed at you its really pissed at you and cards just wont fall. I am on a downward spiral and lost another $246 yesterday. I was playing a little out of my bankroll, but nothing major.

The biggest killer was when I got 2 outtered in a $259 NL pot when my KK was up against JJ and he spiked a J on the river.

Heres 2 other hands that pissed me off, but hey thats poker I guess ...

5/10 where I had KA and guy calls my preflop raise with 8T offsuit. Flop was 8TK and homie runner runners a backdoor flush on me for $79 pot.

http://pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=153499

In another 5/10 hand I had another genius call my QK preflop raise with A5o, Flop J7Q giving me top pair, turn came a K giving me top 2 pair, and river ofcourse brought a T for runner runner straight for Mr. A5o dipship who of course was calling the whole way because his Ax had to be good!

http://pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=153494

I played in one of those Pokerstars $20 180 person SnG and finished 79th with a classic AQ vs JJ race where my AQ never improved.

Looks like its back to $3/$6 and $100 NL for a bit. I hate this game.

Weekend

What a weekend.

I took the family camping with my son's cub scout troop this weekend and of course we picked the coldest weekend so far this year to go. All and all it was really fun yet tiring and there is nothing like spending a 42 degree night.

Sunday I got in some poker and unfortunately didnt do to well. I lost about $230 at the $5/$10 tables on pokerstars and lost another $130 at the $100 NL tables on Partypoker.

I ended up playing the Pokerstars Blogger tournament which had 1473 people entered. I finished 88th which was good for a Pokerstars Shirt and Hat, here were my tourny statistics ...

You finished in 88th place (eliminated at hand #2876141262).

263 hands played and saw flop:
- 11 times out of 30 while in small blind (36%)
- 11 times out of 31 while in big blind (35%)
- 21 times out of 202 in other positions (10%)
- a total of 43 times out of 263 (16%)

Pots won at showdown - 8 out of 14 (57%)
Pots won without showdown - 38

4 tournaments, Neverwin, Bon Jovi, and Camping

I played the $10+$1 and $30+$3 MTT NLHE tournies on Pokerstars and busted out of both.

Then I went and played some $3/$6 ring on Partypoker for about an hour and made $56.

Then I went and played in the Thursday night FCP tournament on Fulltilt. I think there were only like 18 people playing or something and top 3 paid. I made it down to the bubble and busted 4th when my A5 ran into QK with AKx flop and Q on turn, doh bubbling sucks!

Then I got word that NWP (neverwinpoker, ie Dustin Woolf and Todd Witteles's group) was doing a small $10 private tourney at midnight on Pokerstars so I figured what the heck. Me and about 9 other FCP members joined 50 of the NWP members and played this tournament. There were 60 total people playing and about 10 minutes in I had JA in EP and raised it up 3x with 1 caller and the flop came down J xx all lowers and we ended up getting all in after the turn with a J high board and he had JJ and I was drawing dead on the river.

That hand put me down to 220 chips and in last place 58th out of 58 left. Somehow I picked up some hands and climbed my way back and actually ended up making the final table. I played a few hands with Dustin in my SB, but never got into any confrontations. 4 of the 10 FCPers made it to the final table and I finished 8th for $27 when I button pushed with JQ and called by SB with A4, neither hands improved.

I found out that Bon Jovi is coming to Nashville on Valentines Day next year and tickets go on sell tomorrow so I'm definitely taking my wife to that.

Also we are going camping this weekend with my son's Cub Scout troop so this will probably be my last post until Monday.

Negreanu Open, some NL, and some SH Limit

I played in the Negreanu Open last night and finished 63 of 114. My biggest mistake was I made an all-in flop call with 9T on a flop of 389 and was up against 9Q. That shortstacked me and I was never able to recover. I ended up all in with TQ versus AK and even thought a T flopped both a K and A hit the turn and river and I was eliminated.

I played some $200 NL and won about $11 after an hours play and then played some shorthanded $3/$6 limit on Party Poker and won $118 so ended the day up $118.

A night of $200 NL

First I played a $20 MTT and busted out 242nd out of 857

PokerStars Tournament #13822567, No Limit Hold'em
Buy-In: $20.00/$2.00
857 players

You finished in 242nd place

104 hands played and saw flop:
- 2 times out of 11 while in small blind (18%)
- 6 times out of 11 while in big blind (54%)
- 16 times out of 82 in other positions (19%)
- a total of 24 times out of 104 (23%)

Pots won at showdown - 2 out of 7 (28%)
Pots won without showdown - 15

Then I played a good several hundred hands of $200 NL. I found myself down about $200 pretty quick when I flopped a set and then a 3rd flush card hit the river and I called off a big bet where the guy hit his flush.

There was this one guy that was at our table that kept thinking he was a pro and criticizing the way people were playing, etc. I let it slide for the first hour or so, but he ended up losing about all his money, rebought 2 times so I was thinking this is great I'll let him just keep talking and give away his money, but he just kept on and on and on talking shit.

After a couple of hours I had a decent amount of alcohol in me so I began talking trash back to him. I really wish I could find all the stuff cause I'm sure theres some more funny stuff, but heres some things I could find ...

Ring, Mtts, SnGs, and Rakeback Oh My

First I got my September Rakeback from JWEB for $114 which started the day off nice.

Then I played about 100 hands of $3/$6 on Party and proceeded to lose $55.

Then I played some $200 NL on Pokerstars for about an hour and lost $35

Then I played a $30+$3 MTT which I thought was NL, but was limit. It was down to 3 mins to startime before I realized it and it was too late to unreg. I really didnt like the structure of this limit event as the blinds went up so fast by the 2nd hour everyone only had like 8 or 9 bbs so you were pretty much committed to making a stand once you entered and it was a card catching contest. I like the NL structure ALOT better. I finished 56th of 198, only top 18 paid.

117 hands played and saw flop:
- 6 times out of 15 while in small blind (40%)
- 9 times out of 14 while in big blind (64%)
- 17 times out of 88 in other positions (19%)
- a total of 32 times out of 117 (27%)

Pots won at showdown - 9 out of 16 (56%)
Pots won without showdown - 10

Then I went and played a $50 SnG with my poker buddy joenin. We made it down to heads up and he proceeded to destroy me so he finished first and I finished 2nd for $135, $80 profit.

100 hands played and saw flop:
- 10 times out of 28 while in small blind (35%)
- 8 times out of 28 while in big blind (28%)
- 8 times out of 44 in other positions (18%)
- a total of 26 times out of 100 (26%)

Pots won at showdown - 9 out of 14 (64%)
Pots won without showdown - 20

Current BR - $2100

-$8

Didnt really feel like playing too much Sunday night. I played a $10 4 person HU match and won the first match and lost the 2nd match so Net-$11. I then played a $30+$3 SnG and finished 5th when I called with Jack high cause I really thought this guy was bluffing, but oh well hehehe. "He called me with Jack high!! What a sicko!"

I won $36 playing some $2/4 ring on Empire for about an hour.

Some Ring Action - Cleared Pokerstars Bonus

Dear dna4ever,

Congratulations! You have fully earned your Deposit Bonus. Your
PokerStars account has been credited in the amount of $150.00.
Thanks for participating in the PokerStars Player Appreciation, and
we'll see you at the tables.

The PokerStars Cashier

I 3 tabled $5/$10 for about an hour or two and got my last 300 fpp points to clear my $150 pokerstars bonus. I made $82 in play at the tables as well.

I played a $10 mtt and busted 900 something out of 1400 when I had AQ with flop of ATJ. Other guy had TJ and I never improved.

I played about 150 hands of $2/$4 limit on Empire as well. I managed to make $36 there as well. I'm not sure if I want to try and clear that $100 bonus or not. You have to rake 1000 hands to earn the $100. I have about 120 of the 1000 points I need and I only have like 4 more days to do it so probably wont.

This was my favorite hand of the night at the $2/$4 tables. I mean seriously????? thre really are people out there this bad ........

http://www.pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=148059

Just for shits and giggles I ran the numbers on that hand and I was a 93.9% to 6.1% favorite. WEEEEEE!

Regardless it was a good bankroll day after the bonus, +$257

I just played 481 person $50 NLHE MTT and bubbled 1 away from final 2 tables. I was sitting 17th of 19th and it was folded around to me in the SB and i had 26s and pushed to the BB who happend to have 77. I hit a 6 but 77 held up and I was out. 1 more spot up and I had an extra $100 and another 17 spots and I had another $6000+

ARGHHHH

I played some $2/$4, $3/$6, $5/$10, maybe i played $15/$30 for 15 mins but not sure, I ended the night up $68 in limit action.

+$181 night so I'll take it. I have cashed in 5 of my last 7 MTTs on stars. I would love to have one of them be a big score, but for now I deal with my pathetic bankroll.

The morning after

Man the morning after you have a bad losing section always sucks.

I thought I saved the whole hand history of that hand last night on the pokerhands website, but I guess I didnt so will post the whole thing tonight, but basically I was at a $200 NL table and had doubled up so was sitting around $410 in money when I picked up AA and raised 4x, 1 caller, flop something garbage with a Q, I bet pot, reraised pot, thinking possible flopped set (no straight or flush board out), I called. Turn was a J so I bet half the post, other guy pushes, I call, I turn over Aces, he turns over 3s, river is a 3. Bye bye $410.

I also played in the Fulltilt FCP tourney and finished 8th or 9th, but only top 3 paid. I tilted a little bit and decided I was going to lose another $200 and stab the $10/$20 limit games. (Yes I am awaiting the BR flames). It seriously just wasnt meant to be for me last night. I do have my Pokerstars hand histories available and check this one hand (critiques are welcomed) ..

Basically it was like my 3rd hand at this table so no one could have any type of read on me, I pick up QKc, there is 2 limpers, I raise it up from mid position everyone folds and the 2 limpers call. Flop QKA rainbow (flopped 2 pair). I bet, call call. Turn J, really didnt want to see that card, early position bets to me, I raise to see where I am at, call, call (ugh). river 8, early bets, I smooth call, other limper raises (now I know I'm screwed), other guy calls, now I'm looking at a $20 call into $345 pot and I have 2 pair so I call and they turn over T3 and T6! both of them called my preflop raises with T-rag and called my flop bets on gutshot Jacks and both hit! They split the pot and I find myself down another $120 or so.

Thats when I quit and went to bed kicking and screaming. Sigh.

Hope my rakeback comes today and is a decent amount

Negreanu Open, Some Pokerstars Books, and PSO Bonus

Yesterday I left work an hour early to go pick up the new Sofa and Love Seat the wife and I had bought the night before. I have a little Nissan pickup truck and after loading those both in the back I put the Beverly Hillbillies to shame driving down home. We got everything in place and it looks really good, just need to put in the hardwood flooring and paint and it will be perfect.

So that took most of my day, but as I do every Wednesday night I played in the Negreanu Open on Pokerstars. We had 108 people play last night and once again I finished 14th, same as last week. The only difference is this week I cashed since the final 2 tables paid. I should have been out around 24th when I called an all with 66 that I was nearly positive had AK or a drawing hand and ran up against QQ, I hit a 6 on the turn and was lucky to stay in it. I busted out when shortstacked on the button and pushed with A9, called by BB with TQ and Q flopped.

I also played a little $5 quadruple shootout thing last night on Pokerstars the same time the Negreanu Open was going. I busted 3rd in first round when I flopped TPGK, but ran into a flopped set.

So in other news I got another one of my Pokerstars FPP books I ordered from the Pokerstars Store. I am getting backed up on my reading, like 4 books now I still have to read. Last week I got Sklanskys Advanced Tournament Poker Book and yesterday I got an autographed copy of Alan Schoonmaker's Psychology of Poker.

I also got my my Poker Source Online referral deposit, I had 11,000 points so I spent 10,000 of those points on a $100 party poker gift certificate, should be in my account sometime today or tomorrow probably.

I should be getting my rakeback payment from Jayson Weber sometime very soon as well, hopefully today or tomorrow.

New furniture and about 30 minutes of poker

Today the wife, kids, and I went shopping for a new sofa, love seat, coffee table, and end tables. We finally found a set we liked and bought it, I brought the end tables and coffee table home tonight and have to pick up the sofa and love seat tomorrow after they stain treat it. I just spent the last hour putting together these coffee and end tables only to realize when I was done I put the wrong dang ends on one of the end tables so I have a really tall coffee table and 1 tall and 1 short end table. Guess after I get done being pissed I'll go fix that.

We are planning on laying down some laminate hard wood floor in the next few weeks as well so having a whole new sofa color, new floor color, OFCOURSE the wife says we need to paint the living room a new color so everything matches, geeeesus!

So I just played about 20 - 30 minutes of poker on pokerstars. I played at a friendly FCPHA nickel game where I lost $1.85 and I played at a $3/$6 limit table where I won $33 so $31 net session. I have about 150 of my required 750 frequent player points on pokerstars in order to release the $150 bonus.

I saw today that Empire released a reload bonus as well which is 100% up to $100 and clears at 10x so basically you can deposit only $100 and earn $100 bonus if you rake 1000 hands within a week. I am not sure how the games are now at Empire since they broke off with Party, but I may end up giving that a try as well.

Current BR - $2008

Poker Stars

I deposited $600 on pokerstars last night to maximize their 25% reload bonus up to $150 free. It releases when you reach 5x your bonus amount in fpps so I need to clear 750 fpps in order to release my 150. I played some $3/$6 for about an hour and found myself down about $45 so I one tabled the $5/$10 table for about 45 minutes and did one of the dumbest things I have ever done EVER at a limit table. I had been playing pretty good I was down about $62 when I got AQ in the SB and it folded to me, I ofcourse raised and the BB defended.

Flop came down AT3, I bet and the BB raised me so I just flat called planning to check raise the turn. The turn came the J and heres where it got stupid. It must have been the beers I was drinking, but I could have swore that J gave me the nut straight so I checked, he bet, I raises, he reraised, I capped. The river gave a meaninlgess 6 so once again I bet, he reraises, (by this time I'm thinking he has the AQ for the straight too lol), I reraise expecting him to cap and us to split. He does cap yet he turns over TT for a set and I remember thinking WOOOHOOO! $200+ pot all mine and then Stars raked that pot to him and I realized what an idiot I was and all I really had was Ace high. The more I think about it that guy didnt play it that great either as there were many hands I could have had capping with that actually would have beat his hand, but being it was blind against blind he must have thought I was bullshittin, which apparently I kinda was. DOH!

So I left the limit takes down about $320 before all was said and done so I ended up hitting up some NL tables for a little bit and I also regged for the stars $20+$2 NLHE MTT. There were 828 entrants and top 81 paid, I finished 149th.

While I continued to grind at the NL table I also played a $10 SnG NLHE and went out 9th place when I flopped top pair and some guy called m pot sized reraise on the flop and hit his gutshot straight on the turn, $@%@#$%.

I ended up grinding back about $165 at the no limit tables making last nights loss a mere $188 which should have been at least $100 less if wasnt for that one stupid hand. I think that is really the first time in all the thousands of hands I have played that I have ever really misread a hand that bad.

Party Poker Splits Ties With its Skins

Well POOP!

Just when I get the good rakeback thing going with Empire Poker I find out that Party Poker has discontinued its affiliation with any other skins. This means all the rakeback (toughter competition) people will be on the skins while most the fish (easier competition) will still be on Party.

Guess I am going to have to re-evaluate whether its still +EV to remain at Empire with rakeback or go to party.

I noticed also that Pokerstars has a 25% reload up to $150 right now so I will end up taking advantage of that for sure.

No poker last night, I actually went to beat at 9:00 for the first time in nearly a year probably! Working these 2 jobs is killing me. By the time all is said and done I will have worked 49 days straight including weekends without a day off. Sigh!

Good Session Then Virus Kicked My Butt

I played the $10 Stars MTT last night with 1600+ people, top 199 paid. I was down to 270th sitting in GREAT chip position, top 70 when the following hand comes up:

I pick up QK in early to mid position and raise it up to 4x and get called by the table chipleader who had been playing pretty loose. Flop comes down QJ3 rainbow so I throw out a pot size bet and get a call. Turn comes K giving me top 2 pair so I push all in with is a little more then pot at this point. I get called an ofcourse the chipleader had TA and hit the straight, what can you do!? I busted out 264th, heres the hand in detail ...

http://pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=143186

While playing that I was also playing some $3/$6 and $5/$10 limit on Party Poker. I have a whopping $40 pending bonus with Partypoker if I earn 930 points. I ended up earning 60 points playing last night and also won $265 so had a really good 2 hour + session.

I also started a little private stars $10 LHE tourney on Pokerstars late last night and was chipleader for first 30 minutes then I got rivered 3 hands in a row and finally lost with AQ vs 56, SB vs BB and board read AQ66T, what can ya do?

Then I somehow got hit by this horrible virus called Vundo that was just giving me all kinds of problems and Norton Antivirus couldnt repair, remove, or kill it. I found a website with a fix and finally after like 3 hours of scanning I THINK I have it removed.

About another week and I should get my September rakeback payment from Jayson Weber which always helps out the bankroll.

Little of Dis and Dat

I started out last night by playing in the Negreanu Open which had 97 people. I made it past the 2 hour break and finished 14th (top 9 paid) when I had 99 and pushed, called by AJ or AT, cant remember, flop was all blanks, but turn hit the AT/AJ and I was out.

I played a $20 SnG on Pokerstars and finished 5th when I HORRIBLY played an A6 on a 678 flop and was up against QQ. Nothing like getting all your money in with 3rd pair! DOH!

Then I played a $20 limit SnG on Empire. I HATE the structure on Empire. The blinds go up so fast it really does become a card catching contest. You know when the average stack is 2 - 3 bb then there is a problem. I manged to finish 3rd and won $40.

Then I played some $50 PL Omaha H/L and managed to lose $16 before heading to the $100 NLHE tables where I proceeded to win $22.

All and all a pretty break even day, down $9

8th out of 1035 in $20+$2 MTT

MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I came SOOOOOOOOOO Close to making some real money last night. I entered the $20+$2 NLHE tournament on Poker Stars and ended up making it to the final table in 3rd chip position. There were 1035 entrants, Total Prize Pool: $20700.00

Two crucial hands that killed me. The first one the 2nd to short stacked raised from mid position 3x BB and I looked down and saw 99 on the button so I pushed him and amazinginly he called QUICKLY with AJo. In my opinion this was a terrible call as he had to figure he was dominated, or worst case a coin flip and he was going to put his entire tournament on the line. The board ends up double pairing and his Ace kicker plays. That put me down to 8th/9.

About 15 minutes later the short stack pushes whom I have covered by only a small margin and I find TT so I push as well. Another guy pushes then 2 calls, WTF! Turns out there were two AKs, 1 QQ, and 1 TT. I actualy made a diamond flush on the river, but one of the QQs was a diamond as well and I ended up busting out 8th for $467.10. First place was over $5000. Man I hate getting so close to the real money and losing like that.

Oh well, not going to complain about $445 bankroll boost.

Some Nickel Poker With Friends

Last night I got together with about 9 or 10 of my poker buddies and friends from FCP and we hit up the $0.05/$0.10 limit tables and just had some good ole fashioned fun playing poker. I think it really as been a long time since I had FUN playing poker. I mean sure I enjoy playing and like playing, but I am not sure if I would call what I have been doing lately FUN. I played for maybe an hour or two and took the suckers for a good $4.

While playing there I also had a $5/$10 limit table open on empire and a $100 NL 6 handed table open on Poker Stars. Remind me to NEVER play nickel poker, $10 limit poker, and $100 NL poker again at the same time. It was VERY confusing hehe.

I won about $26 playing $5/$10 limit and won $72 playing $100 NL. The one key hand was when I called a raise from the BB with 44. Flop came down 48A rainbow and original raiser checked and I bet 3/4 pot ($8), he called, turn come a 5, he checked again and I bet about 3/4 pot again ($20) and he reraised me all in (another $50 or so). I did thing it was suspicious he raised preflop and then check called the flop and turn, but since there was no flush board out there the only thing I could put him on was a higher pair or something like AK or AQ, just hoped it wasnt Aces. I called and he turned over AK and river came a rag and I took down a nice pot.
