$100 Bonus Cleared

Well I had a really nice session. Quite the opposite of last night. I played about 400 hands and cleared my 700 raked hands bonus for $100. While clearing the bonus I also managed to Net $80 during my 3 table $0.50/$1.00 4 hour session.

We had our draft tonight for girls softball. I coach my daughters team. We drafted 10 girls including my daughter, they are in the 11-12 group. 10 girls for a 9 man sport, sound kinda scary to me. Always someone out for vacation or sick or something, hope it goes well. First practice will be this Saturday and we'll see how these girls look.

The bonus certainly helped to get my BR close to where it needs to be.

PartyPoker BR - $274.55 + $100 bonus = $374.55
PokerStars BR - $50.00
Total BR - $424.55

You Got To Be Kidding

Well last night was the first time I ever felt like online poker could possibly be rigged. I know its not, but the way things played out I would have put a $1 that I was cheated or colluded. I lost over $125 in less then 2 hours playing 3 tables of $0.50/$1.00 poker. It was the most ridiculous downswing I have ever experienced. Literally went on a 45 minute streak where I never won a hand. I went through hand histories and I lost all 6 AK, 2 AQ, 1 TT, 1 QQ, 1 KK, and 2 AA. I had one player specifically that kept sucking out so much it was unbelievable. One time I had AK and he kept betting into me. The board was A9T. I bet off the flop and he raised so I called. The turn brough a 7 (no flush board possible) so I checked to him he bet again, I called. The river brough a 6 and again I checked, he bet, I called. He turns over the 83 and hit the straight on the river. ARE YOU KIDDING ME ???

Another memorable hand was my AK sooooooted that called preflop 3 way. Flop comes AQ2. I bet and get 1 caller all the way down to the river. Turn brings a 4 and river brings a J. What does the guy have? Yup, 4J.

I would have to say my favorite hand (which if I was in this guys shoes I would have played the same way, but either way it just sucked). I have AQ and flop comes TJK for the nut straight with no flush possibilities. I bet and got raised, I reraised, he caps and I call. Turn brings 4 of spades (two to the flush). I bet he calls. River brings a King. I bet, he raises, I call. He has JK for the fullhouse over my straight, $30+ pot.

The whole night was ridiculous. I got about 300 hands in. I went ahead and took my $180 back out of my bankroll cause I didnt want to lose it.

Current Partypoker BR - $194.55 (*Sad face*)
I still have the pending $100 bonus when I rake another 400 hands
I also still have $50 in pokerstars
Current Full Bankroll - $244.55

Little Break Then Depo

I took Friday and Saturday off from Poker. Saturday was my wife's 35th birthday so we spent the day together then went out to a nice dinner with the kids. We then went to The Nashville Kats vs Las Vegas Gladiators AFL Arenal Football League game. It was a sold out game and was a lot of fun.

It turns out that you can withdraw from partypoker and then redposit back and still qualify for the depo bonus so I took advantage. I had about $160 in my partypoker account and $160 in my firepay account so I added $180 of my own money to make an even $500 deposit which after 700 raked hands will give a bonus of $100. Once I clear the bonus I'm taking the $180 back out of my BR.

I plan on trying to get 100 - 200 hands today.

After taking 2 day break I just wansnt in to a session. I 3 tabled for about 30 minutes and got 68 raked hands in. I actually made a profit of $10 this session, but stopped cause didnt feel like i was concentrating.

20% PartyPoker Depo Bonus

Well I didn't have to wait long for PartyPoker to offer a depo bonus.

http://www.partypoker.com/offers/deposit_20_200-bonusfeb-05.htm

I am going to add $240 (out of pocket) to the $160 already in my firepay account and deposit the full $400 to PartyPoker today. You can deposit up to $1000 for a total of $200 possible 20% bonus, but I simply don't have that much to deposit right now. I'll have a potential $80 bonus from the $400 deposit which in order to claim I will need to rake 560 hands (7x bonus amount) in 7 days. I cleared the last 500 rake bonus in 2 days so this should not be a problem. Once I have cleared the bonus I'm taking the $240 I added out of pocket back out of my account.

Party Poker & Finally a Winning Session Again

7:30 PM CST
Ok so just finished my 500 raked hands and made $20 plus got my $25 pending bonus.

My partypoker account now has $120 and I have yet to put a penny of my own money there, how cool is that?

My Firepay account now has the $160 I withdrew from Pokerstars

My Pokerstars still has the $50 I left in it

Current BR - $330.00

9:45 PM CST
Just finished a 90 minute 2 table session of $0.50/$1.00 limit on PartyPoker. Made $30. I almost forgot what a winning session felt like.

I had two big hands one was AK with an AKQ flop. I had 4 way action and was scared shitless cause I kept getting raises. There were two to the flush on the board so figured someone either tripped, hit straight, or would hit a flush. Turns out it paid down to the river 1 AQ, 1 JK and 1 99 so my AK held up, like a $33 pot.

The other hand was I had 66 with 36A flop. Another A hit the turn and we were in reraise city. Guy had AK but my full house took down his trip aces. $25 pot.

Current BR - $360.00

Tiny Glitch in The Plan

Well it turns out the Instant Bankroll thing counts as your initial deposit bonus so you cant do that AND the 30% depo bonus so so much for that idea. I decided I would wait for a reload or another bonus to come around.

I played for about 2 hours on Party Poker tonight only 2 tabling the $0.50/$1.00 tables. I definitely dont like the interface as much as stars and I was very surprised at how loose the tables were. Sometimes there would be 8 and 9 way action after a raise, crazy!.

I ended up seeing 250 raked hands which is half of what I need to clear the other $25 pending bonus. I think I may play a few more minutes tonight, but not sure.

I havent made any net money yet, down $2 so $73 in my Party Poker Account. Still $50 in my Pokerstars Account. $160 is in limbo land and should be in my Firepay account tomorrow.

Ended up playing 75 more hands, still even $ for the day, but closer to the $25 pending bonus @ 500 raked hands.

Thats It, I'm Moving To Sparta (err Partypoker)

Ok so heres the plan. I signed up for this free $100 offer from Poker Source Online forums called Instant Bankroll ( www.instantbankroll.com)

This is for people who have never had a money account at Party Poker. I signed up and within a day or two I got an email and I had to call and verify some information. Instantly they deposited $75 to my new party poker account. There is also a $25 pending bonus that is paid off when you have 500 raked hands.

Since most my 5 table sessions are between 500 - 1000 hands anyways I should be able to clear that pretty easy.

$75 is hardly enough to play their minimum $0.50/$1.00 so I just cashed out $160 of my $210 from Pokerstars back into my Firepay Account, should be processed within 24 hours.

Partypoker also has a 30% depo bonus right now so along with my $160 from Pokerstars I am going to deposit another $240 ($400 total) so that will put another $120 pending bonus out there.

I am going to leave my $50 in my stars account to play things like the Negreanu Open or whatever, but going to abandon Pokerstars for now and give PartyPoker a shot.

Even if I break even with all my raked hands the $220 in bonus will put me close to where my BR was 3 days ago. I plan on taking back out the $240 I am adding from my own funds assuming I dont lose it all trying to clear my bonus.

I'll keep ya posted .....

Worst Session Yet

Played a 3 hour session and nothing went right. I found myself down $100 after the first 2 hours then I started chasing cards and fishing and my game went to crap. I set out for 10 minutes to try and regain my composure. Came back and played for an hour and got back some, but still my worst loss since playing limit poker.

Current BR - $396.64

Guess its just not my day for poker. Another $50 losing session. Lost over $100 today, bummer. Worst poker day I've had monetary wise. Had one hand where board was Th Jh Qh Kh and I had the 9h! straight flush. someone had the A h for the royal. When its not your day its not your day. I lost 3 full houses to quads and hit my set to times on the flop where someone else also hit a higher set. Just a rough day for poker. Very Frustrating.

Drugs and Poker

OK so apparently I decided to play $1/$2 limit poker last night all drugged up from my surgery. I woke up this morning to a bankroll of $308!!!! AHHHHHHH. What the hell happened. Apparently after looking at hand histories I lost about $115 playing poker that I dont really remember playing.

First of all I never play $1/$2 cause I'm waiting til my BR hits 600 and I will have 300bb, but oh well.

So today I am still sore as hell from my surgery and can barely walk cause I have these two huge puncture wounds in my groin that are all bandaged up from the catheter tubes.

I get back on my 5 table $0.50/$1.00 horse and manage to play about 1000 hands. I ended up having an amazing run for about 20 minutes where all my cards hit. I also took a few bad beats on perfect, perfect runners, but thats poker I guess. Ended up $128.14. Best session I've had yet and did I ever need it after my mysterious bankroll disappearance last night!

I hit 2000 fpp points and went ahead and ordered Sklanskys Theory of Poker from the Pokerstars FPP store.

I am already back up to 400 fpp again after I used my 2000.

Heart Surgery - A Success

First of all if theres typos in this post deal with it, I am on an extrememe about of drugs right now ....Its 9:30AM CST Friday and I am in a terrible about of pain/soreness. i had my heart surgery yesterday and I understand it was a success. Went the hospital about 6 am, got blood draw, IV started, etc, started surgery about 9:30 and was out by 12:30 and in recveroy room til about 2:30. At 2:30 I got taken to my room where I could spent time with my familiy again. I finally left the hospital about 6:30 pm.

They only used 3 insert points in this surgery, 2 in my groin and 1 in my coratid (spelling?) artery in my neck. All 3 insert points are extrememly sore this morning and it hurts to get up and down and when I swallow my neck is sore. I have a ton of bandages and a pretty new 'pubic' hair cut, hehe.

The surgeon said they found the electrical problem in my heart and was able to ablate it off successfully so I should no longer have any rapid heart beat problems, Praise the Lord!.

I'm going back to sleep now. I should be up and at em in about 2 days. Obviously no poker last night or day before.

Bluff Magazine Subscription

Just bought a subscription to Bluff Magazine http://www.bluffmagazine.com

The publisher, Eric Morris, posted on the fullcontact board that Daniel Negreanu (well known to be my favorite player) will be profiled and interviewed in the next magazine.

I am a firm believer that the more you read and practice something (ie poker) the better you will become.

I am disappointed in my Cardplayer magazine subscription because they offer nothing in the magazine that you dont get for free already online on their website. And to make things worse you dont get the magazine until after 2 it has already been up online for 2 weeks.

Valentines Day - Heart Surgery

Finally back to work, like day 5 or 6 or something of the flu and am starting to feel somewhat better, probably 80%.

I have to get better since I am having my heart surgery on Thursday. I am not sure if I have posted about this in my blog or not, but I have a few fun things with my heart like a heart murmur, mitral valve prolapse, but of more consequence I have a condition called SupraVentricular Tachycardia (SVT for short) which is basically a fancy word for rapid heartbeat. You can google SVT/heart etc and read all about it. This has been a lifelong thing that I am finally going to get taken care of.

I can be sitting completely still, laying in bed, playing online poker, eating, etc and my heart will just race upwards to and beyond 200+ beats per minute. These sessions can last anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours and man are you worn out when its over. Best way I can describe it is like someone taking a hammer from the inside of your chest and beating out with it. The next day you are usually tired and sore like you took a beating.

This surgery is called an EP Study with Catheter Ablation. Basically they take 4 catheter tubes (2 in the groin (ow!) and 2 under the collarbone and run these catheter tubes in your veins to your heart and map the electrical system. Once they find and trigger the electrical malfunction that causes the rapid heart beat they shoot a little radio frequency shot and ablate/laser it off. If all goes well my problem is cured for life. If all does not go well then some potential side effects are stroke, heart attack, need for pace maker, and lastly and certainly most unlikely, death.

I report to the hospital this Thursday at 6 am and should be out by the end of the day and back and at em by Saturday or Sunday.

Tonight I plan on playing cards for a few hours. The wifey works til 10:30 so plan on having a rose and champagne waiting for her when she gets in. Maybe I'll get lucky tonight, who knows? ? :-D

Example of a Bad Bluff

Heres a cute little example of how to execute a bad bluff. One might call this being the victim of the rope-a-dope (notice I'm the dope in the following example)

Well I guess you should never give up. The $10+$1 SnG with the bad bluff example I just counted myself out of it cause I only had like 400 chips at a full table. Well its an hour later and just finished 2nd for $27.00

50 cent poker players suck - thats good and bad

I just played a 3 hour 5 table session of $0.50/$1.00 poker.

It is truely amazing at the amount of sucking out and drawing that goes on. People wishing for that one card or 4 outter that can save them. This is normally a good thing cause we all like fishies. Only problem is today all those cards were coming. I found myself down $60 in the first hour. This is the most I have ever been down in a session. I grinded and grinded and finally ended up getting most my money back.

I'm up to 1400 fpp points. I'm saving up for 2000 to get the autographed Theory of Poker book by Sklansky. Speaking of Poker books I am over 3/4ths through Harringtons NL book, very good. When I finish that I am going to read "Small Stakes Hold 'em: Winning Big With Expert Play". I already bought this book. Few more books on my list besides Theory of Poker is Caros Book of Tells and Brunsons SS. I got about 10 books on the immediate list, but these are the first 5.

As far as my 3 hours session I ended up seeing 812 hands!!! and ended up down about $2. What talk about grinding!

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 812 hands and saw flop:
- 56 out of 90 times while in big blind (62%)
- 23 out of 87 times while in small blind (26%)
- 83 out of 635 times in other positions (13%)
- a total of 162 out of 812 (19%)
Pots won at showdown - 33 of 68 (48%)
Pots won without showdown - 36

Current BR - $308.79

Just bubbled out 4th of 9 in a $10 + $1 sng.

Loaned (transferred) a friend $30 from my stars BR until their netteller depo goes through so BR will be $30 less for a day or two until he gets it back.
Current BR - $267.79

2 Hours of 5 tabling ... +$4.75 . Would have ended up +$10 but last hand my trips got whomped by nut flush on the river.

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 583 hands and saw flop:
- 40 out of 65 times while in big blind (61%)

New Feature - Limit Hand Statistics

I figured I would start posting my limit hand statistics so I can see if I notice any similiarities between winning sessions and losing sessions in my play; ie too tight, too loose, etc.

Just finished a 5 table session for about 45 minutes of $0.50/$1.00 limit holdem. First thing I was surprised was I saw 197 hands in less then an hour, crazy!

This session I only netted $2.50, but guess thats better then losing!

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 197 hands and saw flop:
- 12 out of 26 times while in big blind (46%)
- 7 out of 26 times while in small blind (26%)
- 24 out of 145 times in other positions (16%)
- a total of 43 out of 197 (21%)
Pots won at showdown - 8 of 16 (50%)
Pots won without showdown - 8

Current BR - $256.29

Just had a fantastic limit session. 5 tables of $0.50/$1.00 for 75 minutes. Ended up $50.75! If I could keep an hourly rate like that I could quit my real job.

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 361 hands and saw flop:
- 22 out of 35 times while in big blind (62%)
- 9 out of 38 times while in small blind (23%)
- 40 out of 288 times in other positions (13%)
- a total of 71 out of 361 (19%)
Pots won at showdown - 20 of 33 (60%)
Pots won without showdown - 16

Current BR - $310.04

Still Sick and Grinding

Played some limit for about 2 hours last night and was down most of the night, as much as $50, but came back and only ended up losing 50 cents, hehe

I woke up this morning and still feel like garbage. This flu just wont go away. Never theless I still grinded out a good hour of 5 tabling $0.50/$1.00 limit poker and ended up about $23

I decided I'm taking the $30 I won in the home game a few weeks ago out of my bankroll and only going to start counting my pokerstars account in my bankroll. So even though I really ended up about $20+ in the last day I am taking out $30 so its gonna look like my BR went down, but it now matches my pokerstars account which is easier to keep up with.

Current BR - $259.29 (after the $30 removed)

Finished 13 out of 18 in a $5 + $0.50 SnG

Current BR - $253.79

Flu & Grinding

Day 2 of the Flu and I still fell like somone is stepping on my head.

I played about 2 hours of limit, 2 tabled $0.50/$1.00, but there wasnt another full table open so hopped in a bit above my BR limit and played 1 $1/$2 table. Ended up winning $23.50 between by $1 tables and lost an even $20 on my $2 table.

Current BR = $235.94

Wow the swings of limit showed themselves today. I sit down at 5 tables which was just silly, but figured 4, 5, whats the difference?

Within first 10 minutes I had every person hit their exact card they needed to make their hand. BAM went down $45 in 15 minutes! This is $0.50 poker mind you! I didnt get tilty and kept to my game. I lost so many stupid hands like AK vs J2 where J and 2 flop and my favorite was AK vs 29 and yup, you guessed it, 2 and 9 flop.

I grinded out a good 90 minutes and made back my $45 plus a little more to show a profit of $11.35.

Almost done with Harringtons book, down to all the problems.

Current BR = $247.29

Placed 6/9 in a $5 SnG then played a $5+0.50 mtt with 1200+.

Dealer: Zilent has a full house, Kings full of Threes
Dealer: dna4ever has a full house, Threes full of Kings
Dealer: Game #1198099864: Zilent wins pot (6030) with a full house, Kings full of Threes
Dealer: dna4ever finished the tournament in 412th place

DOH!

Current BR - $236.29

5 tabled some more $0.50/$1.00 for about 90 minutes. Ended up with some horrible bad beats, ace high straights busted by full houses on river, trips beat my straight, even had 1 quads beat by straight flush! Somehow still managed to Net $29.50

Current BR - $265.79

Dive and Discovering Limit

WOW Did I go on a downhill spiral for a few days. My bankroll dipped down to $50 and I started playing silly games that were above my BR. I always play NL poker, but figured I would try to play some limit poker for a change. I started at a 6 handed $0.50/$1.00 table. Within 10 minutes I was up $30, what the hell? Surely poker cant be this easy?? Have I been missing out on a cash cow? I then proceeded to a full table and made another $15 in an hour at the same limits. I then proceeded to play 4 tables at the same time and made another $30 in the next hour. Hmmmmm. Whats going on. I went and played 2 NL tournies and placed 2nd in one so made another $27. My bankroll is getting close to where it needs to be now.

Currently sitting at $161.69.

Lil Bit of Everything

Lost about $45 yesterday playing a few MTTs and SNGs and some Ring. Played some small blind limit hold'em today and won a few buck.

Just won a $5 18 person SnG for $36 rake.

Whirlwind

Well I havent posted the last 2 days and dont feel like going back into all my tournament histories. Basically I went on a real frustrating run of tournaments where I bubbled in like 5 of 6 tournies and I lost a bunch in ring. I probably was down as much as $100 in the last 2 days, but slowly regained my composure and got back to my game.

I placed 22nd out of 69 in the Negreanu Open last night where I was busted by the classic coin flip of a pair versus 2 overs.

I ended up winning a $10 + $1 18 person SnG last night which was $72.00 and a nice BR recovery.

Days Summary
Starting Bankroll - $158.61
Ending Bankroll - $181.91
Last 2 Days Net Change - +$23.30
Net BR since starting this blog - +$85.88
